The master bat is reversible in that it can be turned over and used as a 12" bat. Engraved guide lines help center your work on the bat. That is especially useful for trimming.
The Lucky Bat System consists of one 12" master bat and ten 6.5" (16cm) inserts. The master bat in this set is carved from formaldehyde-free 3/4" Medex brand HMR MDF.
Inserts are made of 1/4" (6mm) Baltic Birch Plywood, which is also a premium material. (Unlike masonite)
The benefit of using plywood bats is that they release from clay more readily than plastic, as wood has absorptive properties. This makes removal of the thrown pot from the bat fairly easy. Check out our video showing how easily leather hard clay releases from a bat. No wiring off!
Bat pin holes are 3/8 (10mm) diameter and spaced 10" apart to fit most standard throwing wheels.
Inserts fit snugly in the bathole and a finger recess helps lift the insert holding your creation from the master bat.

We guarantee that your bat is manufactured accurately and will fit a throwing wheel using ¼” x 20 socket cap crews spaced 10” or 254mm apart on centers.
We cannot control how you use, store and care for the product. As they are made from natural fibers, they are subject to movement and swelling or shrinkage depending on the environment they are in.
Therefore, we offer a 14 day money-back refund if there are defects in manufacturing or material which cause the product to be unusable. However, we will not issue a refund if the product has been abused. The user must follow the care instructions included with their purchase. 14 days after delivery, they cannot be returned.

I was really excited for this bat system, but when I received it the octagon bats seem to be straight rough wood instead of treated to be smooth. When I throw with them the wood grain swells and they grab my hand when I'm dragging the side of my hand on the wheel. The whole idea is lovely but I would really have liked the bats to be more smooth.

The bat system is beautiful and fits perfectly. I love the size and that the replaceable bats are easily put in and removed. I also love that the underside of the bat has the rings on it so can be used on its own also. Just a note of caution..a higher grog clay does not work great with this system. Causes chafing and chewed up my sponges. But with a smooth clay, it’s amazing.

These bats have exceeded my hopes and expectations! They are so well made, the bat fits tightly on the wheel head with no wiggling and the same is true of the inserts. I’m beyond thrilled with my purchase from Lucky Bats and will absolutely purchase from them again!
