The master bat is reversible in that it can be turned over and used as a 12" bat. Engraved guide lines help center your work on the bat. That is especially useful for trimming.
The Lucky Bat System consists of one 12" master bat and ten 6.5" (16cm) inserts. The master bat in this set is carved from formaldehyde-free 3/4" Medex brand HMR MDF.
Inserts are made of 1/4" (6mm) Baltic Birch Plywood, which is also a premium material. (Unlike masonite)
The benefit of using plywood bats is that they release from clay more readily than plastic, as wood has absorptive properties. This makes removal of the thrown pot from the bat fairly easy. Check out our video showing how easily leather hard clay releases from a bat. No wiring off!
Bat pin holes are 3/8 (10mm) diameter and spaced 10" apart to fit most standard throwing wheels.
Inserts fit snugly in the bathole and a finger recess helps lift the insert holding your creation from the master bat.

We guarantee that your bat is manufactured accurately and will fit a throwing wheel using ¼” x 20 socket cap crews spaced 10” or 254mm apart on centers.
We cannot control how you use, store and care for the product. As they are made from natural fibers, they are subject to movement and swelling or shrinkage depending on the environment they are in.
Therefore, we offer a 14 day money-back refund if there are defects in manufacturing or material which cause the product to be unusable. However, we will not issue a refund if the product has been abused. The user must follow the care instructions included with their purchase. 14 days after delivery, they cannot be returned.

I really like this bat system. I don’t think I can use the word love *yet* it’s almost there and I think overtime and use it will get better. What I love: Because of the unique shape the bats don’t rattle in the mother bat, which we love. Pots stay centred. I also love that I am supporting local and handmade woop woop. What I’m having problems with: The bat inserts are rough, after 10 throws I start getting chaffing on the left outer palm and it hurts. I’m used to throwing 20-50 in a sitting so it’s slowing me down to recover between sessions. I’m sure some buffing will help but I kind of wish they were shipped out with a coating or pre buffing. The other tweak I would love to make is two notches on the bottom of the mother so you don’t have to pry it off the bat mat. Otherwise, It’s an excellent bang for your bucks!

Excellent bat system! The materials are high quality and the shape is perfect. It doesn't hit your fingers like square bat systems tend to. The inserts are reversable which will help keep them from warping. The concentric circles on the back are a game changer! This was a system built by potters and you can tell. My only sadness is that it comes from Canada so takes a bit to get to the US! I'll definitely be getting the big system in the future.

I absolutely love these. I have tried a few bat systems (Batman & Dirty Girl) and these have them beat in my opinion. Unlike the Dirty Girl bats, they don't seem to absorb as much moisture and therefor can fit back in the slot much quicker which means I need less inserts. The bottoms do release more slowly if not wired because of this but I have yet to wait to encounter a problem of having to wait too long before I can remove and trim.

Well made, thank you. I wish I had gone with the larger size as the seam placement of this one is right by your hands go causing it to bump your work a bit. I also wish it was made out of something different for material as I have rubbed my skin raw in a spot. I am hoping with more use and more calluses it will eventually get better
